About Me
I am an Acupuncture Physician licensed by the state of
Florida. My interest in acupuncture and Oriental Medicine developed out
of back injury I incurred while lifting weights in 1985. The injury
caused sciatic pain down to my right foot anytime I bent over. I tried
pain medications, muscle relaxants and even a series of epidural steroid
injections, but none of them gave me lasting relief. Willing to try
anything at that point, I went to a local acupuncturist. After six or
seven acupuncture treatments along with taking herbs and changing my diet the
pain was gone. I was sold!
At that time in my life, I was an engineer. And as an
engineer I was curious how tiny needles could stop the pain that Western
medicine had failed to relieve. So I began reading all that was
available on acupuncture and even successfully used acupressure on friends
and myself. In 1992, I decided to
forego my engineering career and pursue a career in
acupuncture.
I attended the National College of Oriental Medicine, where
I earned a Masters of Oriental Medicine and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
After graduating, in 1995, I opened a private practice in Winter Park,
Florida.
In 1996, I received advanced training in acupuncture and
Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Xi Yuan hospital in Beijing, China.
While in China, I was also introduced to the healing art of
Qigong. Since then I have studied many different forms of Qigong and
have learned to cultivate my own inner Qi which has in turn enhanced my
healing ability. Throughout the many thousand year history of
Traditional Chinese Medicine only a physician with this inner cultivation of
Qi has been viewed as a true healer.
Besides my private practice I have been a professor and
clinic supervisor at the Florida College of Integrated Medicine, since 1998.
